Water Supply & Sanitation in India continue to be inadequate, despite longstanding efforts from time-to-time by various governments. The level of investment in Water & Sanitation was not ever matching the actual requirement to make a substantial improvement to the society.

With the change in the Government in 2014, the Water & Sanitation sector attracted a much needed serious attention and thereby launching of new programmes – SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN (Clean India Mission) and AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation & Urban Transformation) covering over 4000 cities all over India. These programmes have received funding and technical support from World Bank along with a committed financing of $9.2 Billion.
